CLUB MONACO / NAIL POLISH / + MORE HAUL

Yes, I have been shopping way too much! I had been trying to put off buying things for a while in perpetration for moving from Ottawa to Victoria and it was about time I picked up a few items for spring and summer. These are the more interesting things I have bought in the last couple of weeks.

I was meaning to get a few items from Club Monaco for a while and when I finally got around to it they were already marked down and still in my size! The selection of sale items right now at Club Monaco is great so I sugguest checking it out.

Aritzia has a new junior line called Sunday's Best. It reminds me of their Wilfred line; a lot of silk peices, dresses with cut outs, and fairly simple colours. The prices are reasonable and the items I was able to see in store were good quality. There was a very small selection at the Aritzia in Victoria but I got a few items and plan to check it out more.

I moved by plane so I decided to leave all my nail polish behind and start over. The China Glaze Peonies and Park Ave City Flourish set is a great value and has enough colour selection to get me though spring.

GET THE LOOK : ELIZABETH OLSEN

This look is very simple and practical for an active spring day. Elizabeth Olsen, and her always creatively dressed sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley, are undoubtedly my favourite celebrities, or people in the spotlight, ever. To categorize each sister together is almost unfair because they each portray a very individual style, however their take on fashion in general is somewhat similar

Anyways, this is a Get The Look post, my first of this sort, where I link similar items as seen in the picture. Everything can be found online for this casual Elizabeth Olsen ensemble. I hope this inspires you to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather by enjoying the outdoors in comfortable and cute clothes!

DRESSES FOR THE OCCASION

Saturdays all spring and summer brides and grooms everywhere are having their big day. I, myself am actually tying-the-knot this month, May 31st! While spring is a good enough excuse to wear a cute dress, if you or a close family member or friend is getting married you will need a few classy and timeless dresses for all the parties and events on top of that big wedding day.

Since I have ladies traveling to attend my wedding the bachelorette, bridal shower, and rehearsal dinner are all just days apart. The weather is perfect this time of the year and it is one of the best excuses to shop for a few dresses, skirt and top combinations, pant suits, or rohmpers.

I think the perfect shower or rehearsal dinner dress is either white/off-white, pastal, or colourful; it could even have a fun but not too casual pattern or a few textures and layers to it. It is either structured and well-fitted or loose and flowy but not overly formal. It is fun, bright, and happy. Keep in mind showers are a grown-up version girls birthday party, and you may have to sit on the floor or an arm of a chair. Also family members and friends of all ages may be attending, you need to be respectful of the other guests, so keep hem lines lower and save the minis for another day.

The same goes for a dress to attend an outdoor wedding in the spring/summer. You want to look polished in whatever dress or outfit you choose to wear, even if you have chosen a casual look. Colour is traditionally to be warn rather than white or black but depending on who is getting married that may not matter (off-white to be safe?). Indoor or church weddings tend to call for a slightly more formal dress, again it is a judgement call.

Now, lastly the bachelorette! This dress is any colour or black. A lot about this dress depends on the time of day and setting. I have no idea what I will be doing in two weeks for mine (it has managed to stay a surprise) but I do know I am a tame bride and my hemlines will stay appropriate enough for a mother's approval. If it is a spa day than keep the clubbing clothes away; but if you are attending a traditional bachelorette go with something more sexy than cute.

Finally, the pictures and links. There are plenty of choices at all price points, but like always, you get what you pay for. To find the prefect dress for the occasion that you can still make use of in the future keep in mind accessories to pair it with and different ways to wear it. Without further ado here of some of my top choices. I am most impressed with the selection and styles at French Connection and Club Monaco.
